Writing is not all about the finished product. It's more about the process. Anne Lamott says that your first draft is to get started, it's get something on paper. I completely agree with that. When I sit down to write, everything is jumbled in my head. Nothing is where I want it to be and some concepts that I think are so important to the point you are trying to make end up being tiny things you end up cutting out of your final draft.
You can always fix something terrible but you can't fix nothing. When you have something written on paper you can go through it, add words and ideas. You cannot just sit down and pour out a master piece in one try. It has to be formed and molded through revision and drafting. This takes time but leaves you with a fantastic end piece to present.
